Honoring Jay

Robert's dad Jay passed away New Year's Eve. When Robert was 9 his dad got thyroid cancer. They took care of it and all was well. 9 years later it was back and it was much, much worse. His life was spared, but with complications. The past 12 years his body was shutting down because of the radiation. I was over at their house on Thursday night and he was having a hard time and wasn't sleeping for over a week. We knew he was having a hard time, but we thought he had at least another year with us. That night he passed away suddenly and Robert barely made it to his bedside. We will miss him a lot and are so grateful to have had him in our lives.

He loved his grandkids and was there to hold each one of them.

Holding Willis in the hospital in July.

Grandpa and Emily.

He was at my wedding.

And he was with us for every major holiday and event. We went to see the lights at temple square worried that it was his last Christmas. We love you and will miss you Jay!

The funeral was beautiful.

Its been hard for Robert. He is so young to lose a parent. He loves his dad and it was very hard for him. It still is when we go to his mom's. His dad is still very much a part of everything in the house.

His mom needs all of our love and support and she misses him dearly. We are so thankful to be there for her.

It was a hard day and it will be harder still, but we are grateful that he will no longer be suffering. There was so much love and support felt by everyone. What I will remember most is the love and Spirit that was there. And we know that through the gospel of Jesus Christ that we will see him again one day. That we can be sealed together forever.

Field Trips

We love our homeschool park day friends and when it got cold this year none of us wanted to quit playing. So we decided it was time to go on more field trips as a group. We went to a grocery store for one of them. They showed the kids the very cold freezer and let them walk inside. I didn't venture in, I stayed in the refrigerated area to take the pictures.

The group went on a field trip to a candy factory that sadly we missed. But after that there was the Tower theatre. It has been used in the Sundance film festival and was open in 1920. It's really cool.

It was really dark in the theatre and the guide was awesome and showed the kids the projector and talked about the building. Fascinating place! And then he showed us 2 Charlie Chaplin films and the fact that the theatre was called Tower Talkies because it was one of the first to have talking films. The kids thought the first Charlie Chaplin film was really funny. One of my dad's favorite movies is City Lights with Chaplin. He even popped us all a little popcorn. It was a lot of fun.

We have had a great time so far and hope to go on many more field trips. The girls get so excited when I tell them we are going on a field trip. I think its my turn to plan one too so I better get cracking!

My Wonderful Kids & Loving Life

One of the many snowstorms we have had so far. We are getting so sick of the dumps and dumps of snow that we feel fortunate when its a light storm.

This just shows some of the mountains of snow we have had this year. The girls have loved it though.

Stuck Emily. She was out playing with Lindsey who decided she was done and I waited and waited for her to come. Finally I went out to find her like this.

Christmas cookie making.

It was a lot of fun making the cookies and they were REALLY good.

Even Willis was there for cookie making. Too bad he couldn't be there for cookie eating.

We were working on money math and lunch became part of the lesson. Each item has a price and the girls came to the "restaurant" with their money in their purses and purchased each item.

Valuable life lessons and lots of fun.

My kids are so wonderful. Life isn't always easy, but we have fun being a part of it. We laugh, we cry- and I do mean WE- and we PLAY!!

Willis is GROWING!

Sweet little Willis is getting so big! Its been awhile since I have updated. Here he is in all of his chubby cuteness.

You just can't pass up kissing those adorable cheeks.
