Honoring Jay

Robert's dad Jay passed away New Year's Eve. When Robert was 9 his dad got thyroid cancer. They took care of it and all was well. 9 years later it was back and it was much, much worse. His life was spared, but with complications. The past 12 years his body was shutting down because of the radiation. I was over at their house on Thursday night and he was having a hard time and wasn't sleeping for over a week. We knew he was having a hard time, but we thought he had at least another year with us. That night he passed away suddenly and Robert barely made it to his bedside. We will miss him a lot and are so grateful to have had him in our lives.

He loved his grandkids and was there to hold each one of them.

Holding Willis in the hospital in July.

Grandpa and Emily.

He was at my wedding.

And he was with us for every major holiday and event. We went to see the lights at temple square worried that it was his last Christmas. We love you and will miss you Jay!

The funeral was beautiful.

Its been hard for Robert. He is so young to lose a parent. He loves his dad and it was very hard for him. It still is when we go to his mom's. His dad is still very much a part of everything in the house.

His mom needs all of our love and support and she misses him dearly. We are so thankful to be there for her.

It was a hard day and it will be harder still, but we are grateful that he will no longer be suffering. There was so much love and support felt by everyone. What I will remember most is the love and Spirit that was there. And we know that through the gospel of Jesus Christ that we will see him again one day. That we can be sealed together forever.
