Ah,... Summer Picnics

The Mommy and the Emily looked around the messy house, heard the baby sleeping soundly in the other room and heard their bellies rumble from hunger. The house was a mess, but the sun was shining. They decided to save cleaning for later that day and packed up a lunch of sandwiches, apples, cheese, yogurt and water and headed out for some magical place to lay a picnic blanket with the book Charlotte's Web in hand.

The magical place was just a patch of grass beyond their fence, but under some great trees. Emily practiced climbing and begged the Mommy to demonstrate how it was done. One blister and child's scraped knee later, it was back to the blanket for them.

Eating and chatting just like little kids as they flicked weird bugs with fuzzy antennas away, they enjoyed the shade and the afternoon. What could get better than this? The Mommy and the Emily traded off reading Charlotte's Web, happy to be half way through the story. The Emily can imitate the voice of Templeton the rat very well.

The Emily talked about Halloween and the Mommy asked what she would like to be. A one eyed monster named Mike Wizowsky or a tree. As their lunch was winding down and it was time to go back to their dark cave-like home, the Mommy jumped up and down when she saw an earwig by her hand. The blanket shaken as was the Mommy, the two of them headed home until a later adventure on another day...

Cute! It's so good to spend one on one time with them when the baby goes to sleep. That so fun!
